I think the collapse of the timber industry in SC is about to put development in overdrive. A lot of property is undevoloped only because timber could offset the holding costs.

I never even considered the thought of selling out but when my farm is surrounded by neighborhoods and I can't shoot, hunt, burn, or keep up with all the trespassers, I can't think of any reason to try to hold out. Before you call me a sellout, give me a reasonable offer to buy the land so you can keep it as the only greenspace in the Ohio transplant neighborhood.

You see daily bitching from folks around Anderson about all the new neighborhoods and I get it however like I have told several of them all they gotta do is write those folks that own land a BIG CHECK and then put land in Conservation Easement and problem solved Funny thing is NONE of them will (or can) write those checks )

My favorites are the ones that moved here about a year ago, refer to themselves as locals and oppose every new home going up or any kind of development living in their 1yo tract home. They get real pissy when you point that out to them.

Sitting here in my office reading all this and the thought just occurred to me,, I love lemonade. Got me a large one from Little Midgets today and one of the reasons is because when all the ice melts well it still taste like lemonade.. carry on.
