Default Padded shooting vest or shirt

Going to shoot doves and ducks in Argentina this July. Leaning towards a shirt with a padded shoulder instead of a vest. Any recommendations for or against either.

Not a shirt but my wife uses this one.
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965

I just got back from Argentina. For Christmas my wife got me several shirts, all from Kevin’s cause Google told her those were the best. I wore this one a couple times because it was cool temperature wise and did a great job at reducing any recoil.

Shock eater in their polo or a Kevin's shirt with the pocket.

Have an old Beretta sweater with the drop in pad.

Shooting 20s it's not terrible but if you shot more than 500 at a time it starts to get to be a lot.

Bought a slip on the stock pad off Amazon but did not use it. Shock eater or the Beretta sweater was plenty.

I always liked the pads you put on over the shirt. Most lodges will have some you can use as well.

I used an over the shirt pad when I was there 21 years ago. I would also look into a pair of gloves that you can tolerate while shooting. At 16 years old, I developed A blister on my trigger finger and on my middle finger from the trigger guard by the 3rd day. I had to push through the pain to hit the 1000 bird goal I set for the last day.

I read back through some old threads on here and several suggested cheap golf gloves. I'm going to try some this week and see how it works.

A shoulder pad is the best item for high volume shooting. Add some tight leather gloves and you’re good to go.

Pabst pad and gloves. The damn barrel gets hot hot. 1250 shots in a day will bruise you up, but your lifting arm will be shot too. Don’t put your cheek on the stock.

I used a clip on over the shirt pad maybe a limbsaver. Mechanix makes some softer leather gloves. Had no issues.

Did the same trip with kids 2 years ago. Shock eater shirts(with insert) and a pad on the gun. Mechanix or the like gloves. Sunglasses and we took walker game ear hearing protection- get the low profile. I had the kids start at 10, then 20,50 reps of mounting(11& 14 year old) every morning before school(i did them as well) for 4 weeks or so before. good clean reps for muscle memory. Your going to be sore after the first (1/2 day). Arm, shoulder, ears, etc... just part of it. IB profin and roll on- second morning wasn't that bad. tons of fun but a little prep seemed to help and we all had a large time.

like a fox. The dude may be coming in a little too hard and crazy but 90% of everything he says is correct.

I have this one. Shot 30 boxes per day with very little soreness. It’s an incredible trip. Enjoy it all!
