I remember one dove club owner explaining to me why he went from a pay club to an invitation club. He said there was less bitching about bad hunts and instead of making someone pay to shoot, it was better for him in the long run to bestow the invite as a favor. He said if a man owes you money, he might pay you back but if he owes you a favor, yo can get anything you need.

The man speaks the truth. That's why the folks invited to hunt our field 1) don't pay a dime, and 2) are told not to have any expectations. If it's great, great. If it sucks, drink a beer on us.
