Power line has been up for a few months over at the club I hunt.

Looks like it's doing its job!

Does anybody shoot public fields? Just curious if it's possible to shoot a limit on a WMA.

Killed a limit many times on a public field.

Last time I shot a public I thought I was going to have to lay my gun barrel across a strangers head when he came up and demanded that I give him a bird he claimed he shot. He got hot about it and then went on his way, SCSwampcat and I were shooting together and he had already killed his limit and I had two birds to go to finish mine. He saw the whole thing and was about to die laughing.

After that I said never again and haven’t stepped in a public field since

A lot of cut corn fields and more being cut by the day.

Ive been seeing a lot more doves this year on power lines.....especially near the cut corn.

I'm guessing the sunflower fields will be good and the pressure will be taking its toll quickley this year.

I noticed the same thing today driving on 176 from Charleston. Also noticed a lot of doves on the wire by the Sandy run industrial park and then look across the road and saw it was all pokeberries.

    Dumb question incoming.....

Are those sunflowers harvested for something at some point in time?? Or are they only grown for 'feed' purposes?

    Beautiful fields.

The ones in SC are for doves only. Out west they harvest them.

The weather forecast is looking like this will be the most comfortable opening day we've had in about a decade.

Don’t you know it’s normal agricultural practice to bush hog sunflowers!

I think I ran up around 20 birds either Wednesday or Thursday of last week. Most I’ve saw down there in the last couple weeks

It’s getting to be more fields than birds around here.

They’re scattered out for sure. Fixing to go look now but it’s not like it normally is.
