Default State Legislators that might read this...

The thread on boat taxes got me thinking...here are 10 easy bills that would get massive support in our wonderful Red state...except by the tamie-pond hunting trial lawyers...

    1) A Bill to prevent the release of any migratory birds by the State or in-state NGOs,
    2) A Bill to prevent students attending State Supported colleges and universities from financing non-BESM programs. BESM=Business, Engineering, Science, Math, ie programs that you can actually pay back student loans. If you want a degree in RPA or socio-gender studies, fine but pay for it upfront.
    3) A bill to keep girls and womens sports limited to biological females,
    4) A bill to require serial-numbered paper-only ballots where voters get to keep a receipt of their votes, these votes can be later audited against the official record to ensure a legal election,
    5) A Bill to get plaintiffs lawyers off of TV and Social Media ads,
    6) A Bill to get pharmaceuticals off of TV and Social Media ads,
    7) A Bill to prevent protests in support of Federally Identified Terrorist organizations on public property,
    8) A Bill preventing the display of any flag other than the US or SC state flags on any property owned by SC or at any school receiving state funding,
    9) A Bill to end the sale of Lottery Tickets within SC – the lottery system has failed – tuition had gone up much faster than the cost of living and we now are forcing crap degrees on unsuspecting students, in primary and secondary schools, Administration growth is out-pacing student and teacher growth,
    10) A Bill allowing School Choice allowing students to cross “traditional” boundaries and Parents to opt-out of their schools taking a fully-loaded voucher with them to a private school as long as that private school does not violate the SC Constitution.

I would agree to pretty much all of those except number 7. Everybody should have the right to protect peacefully even if I disagree with them. The other drawback to that is who is to say that they can't make anyone they disagree with a terrorist organization. I'm pretty sure Clyburn would have called those of us on scducks terrorists when I first joined this site

Here's a novel idea. How about members of the General Assembly, who are also practicing attorney's, not be allowed to sit on the Judicial Merit Selection Commission? Todd Rutherford is a perfect example. These are the people recommending who becomes a judge in South Carolina. Talk about a conflict of interest.

There's some serious tort reform going on right now but I don't know much in the way of details.

I'm in except for 1/7 & 8 needs modified to allow for the stars & bars if desired.

7 we have to have free speech. Now if they move to block students from class that crosses a line. Expressing ones beliefs or stammering that is what we had until Musk bought X & we still almost lost that war.

Heck we allowed Nazis to have their own party during WW2 they calmed down after we entered the war in 41.

I think the free expressions of ideas allows for them to be fleshed out. When one side is throttled many will gravitate towards it for various reasons.

Okay, the original #7 is gone.

The new #7) A bill to allow over-the-counter purchase and in-state use of noise suppression devices on the end of firearms when those arms are being used for legal purposes. Call it the SC hearing protection act. Yes, I know. Our AG will have to take it to the Supreme court but maybe we can start a movement to get the federal law updated or a high-court ruling that that part of the National Firearms Act (NFA) is unconstitutional.

He certainly called me a racist in the State Newspaper when I was the only one on his team for building that bridge. Fuck him.

Why can't we all just get along.

Lottery- how long did it take for colleges to increase tuition, substantially, after the lottery came into existence. All with the full blessing of the legislature.

You propose to fund digging up old stumps in Santee.

Goldfinch proposed & passed legislation to harvest snapper in state waters.

This is a start for why we all can’t get along. Different strokes for different folks.

I’m with you doc, but we have term limits every election cycle. It’s time for the populace to inform themselves and vote accordingly.

    “populace to inform themselves”

    Will never happen
