    Default Predator 2000W inverter genny

I run our camp on one of the Predator genny's. 2000W start up with max payload of 1600W. I use it to run the whole camp. It's been a solid running machine for the last few years up until this past early teal season. Surged and sputtered, lights were dimming so I borrowed a genny from my neighbors camp for the rest of the week. I had no idea how simple the fix was and you tubed it when I got back home.

Disconnect the fuel line and INSIDE the metal fuel feed side of the carb is this tiny inline filter. I was amazed the genny still ran! Carefully pulled it, Cleaned it out, cleaned the spark for routine maintenance and fired the old girl up. She ran like a top and powered 2 small fridges, helps us refreeze bottles for ice, all our lighting (LED bulbs) and 110w water heater, coffee pot, etc. We adjust load demand as necessary to keep from tripping her out but burning 3 gallons of fuel in 24 hours vs. 6 gallons / night is a huge benefit.

Doing an oil change today on this little juggernaut reminded me to let y'all know what might be a problem with these little generators.

Listen to your elders. Not because they are always right but because they have more experiences of being wrong.

    Good stuff!

Good to know. I have never seen a fuel filter quite like that.

A lot of fuel injected outboards have the same filter on the fuel "return" line back into the vst tank.
It's known as the "mystery filter" by mechanics and they make a bunch of $ off it
When it clogs up, it restricts the fuel and causes stumbling, not achieving wot and other common fuel starvation issues.
Folks check water in fuel, fuel/water separator, in-line fuel filters, send injectors out for cleaning, rebuild vst tank and nothing fixes it
This is the culprit. I just did a full service on my outboard and both of my sons' and this $2.99 filter got changed
