How about more protection for comorants?
Comorans lives matter!🙄

We should not patch potholes or spray for mosquitos either.
Either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.

DT, serious couple questions here. I don't want to assume anything so here goes: Is your plan to address this through legislation? If so, is there an alternative where it can accomplished directly with Santee Cooper via an avenue that does mandate legislation?
If both are in fact viable options, what is the advantage that makes the legislative route the one to seek here?

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Anychance of changing from cutting timber to planting mud flats??? Don't mind the timber or stumps if your on the lake enough you know where you should and shouldn't be...
“Duck hunting gives a man a chance to see the loneliest places …blinds washed by a rolling surf, blue and gold autumn marshes, …a rice field in the rain, flooded pin-oak forests or any remote river delta. In duck hunting the scene is as important as the shooting.” ~ Erwin Bauer, The Duck Hunter’s Bible, 1965
DT, is this Santee Cooper’s penalty for the failed nuclear plant that you and the other politicians voted to allow? Or is this just the usual screwing of tax payers and their money?

Ray Charles can see whats going on here. Leave the lake alone.
Don’t forget about the wake boats that will follow more open water.
For the ducks
I just don’t get it. Some states work really hard to promote and protect their natural resources. Meanwhile in South Carolina, let’s see how bad we can screw our resources. Our lakes, our wma properties, release birds, and the list can continue and we make the wrong decision again and again. Removing these trees is like mulching all your cover on a hunting property. Just because you can access every part of the property and can see from end to end doesn’t mean you should. Is it too much to ask to have people in charge of our resources to actually protect and not pimp them out?
For the ducks
I'm confused. One sentence you say this is only for standing trees and it won't be removing the stumps. But then you say the Audubon society wants stumps for the cormorants and that this is for navigational purposes.
Is it possible that cormorants don't have anything to do with this discussion? And now that we are past that silly argument, how are you going to improve navigational purposes without removing the stumps?
And how are the trees going to be harvested 10 ft below the waterline? Scuba divers with chainsaws? Or by lowering the lake 10 ft?
