New build or are you rebarreling the 6.5-284?
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

How many rounds did you get out of it?
It moved. Seriously. I want to build another .280 Ackley. On that taper, but with straight flutes, and 26" of tube. Nice, look forward to seeing it work out.

Who fits your barrels to your receivers?
I will be using Accurate Ordnance out of Winder, GA for this one.

900... That's not a lot.
No doubt. What they say about the 6.5-284 being a barrel burner was definitely true in my case.
I love the 6.5's, but wanted to build something with a more reasonable barrel life this time. From my research, I think its safe to assume somewhere between 2000-3000 for the .280 Ackley, which I can live with.
That said, I'm not bailing on the 6.5's, but future calibers will be .260, 6.5 creed, or 6.5x47.

I miss my original 280 Ackley. Killing machine. I'm in that stage of life where I am buying my "toys" as best as I can before I fully retire and my income drops. If I build one, I'm thinking about a Defiant action and a Manners stock. But I would go Remington if I found a good action.
