I was fortunate as a teenager to get to hunt South Texas a few times. Back then, it was set up as a traditional outfitted hunt- you pay a set fee for a hunt and you hope to kill a nice animal. I'd like to take my son to South Texas just to see the abundance of wildlife and maybe get a crack at a nice buck. However, in doing some research, it looks like most hunts are on a sliding scale where you pay x for a hunt and then additional money based on the buck's score. That does not interest me in any way. We're also not interested in hunting high fenced put-and-take operations with genetic manipulation. Just want a traditional Texas ranch that's not pay-scaled. Does anyone have experience or a lead on a South Texas ranch that does it the old way? Thanks, CC
