Has anybody had luck getting pics of deer over mineral blocks? We set out a new camera today at the farm, but had no bait except for a block.

Will find out soon enough ourselves. Saw first hand how they tear up those blocks yesterday. With all the velvet I have on my camera the past week and a half, I hope to get some good results with the block and camera.

Only thing I am scared of is the how close to put each from the other. The most recent spot I had the camera seemed to be "slow" with deer this go around. Hope it is not spooking them.

Let us know what the results are.

    ABB,

Don't worry, you'll get a bunch of picks. This is the best time of the year for mineral/salt blocks.

Wes, mount the cam up high when you put the cam out on a direct target like a salt block. If you mount it as high as you can get it so that it looks down it seems to spook less deer with the flash. Not all are flash weary, but even fewer are bothered by it when it's overhead.

    Will do.

How high is the next question? Will I need a ladder, or just as high as I can reach?

high as you can reach...pointing down on the minerals. gonna need a tree close by. also gonna need something to prop behind the camera to keep it angled the right way.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
