I am heading to Highlands next weekend with 3 weight in hand. Any good spots close by?

Sorry, it's been awhile since I've been up there, but would appreciate any info you might be willing to share when you get back.

    Have a nice trip!

I was just there 3 weeks ago. From Highlands, you can fish the davidson (45 min), the tuskaseegee (30 min), the East Fork of the French Broad (25 min), the cullasaga (10 min), the chatooga(bull pen) area, 10 minutes, and also check out the trout lake at the Glade park entrance. This is just north of highlands on 64, on the right.

Let me know if you need additional info.

Royal wulfs up top, with a squirrel nest nymph about 24" below.

    Good Luck.

Panthertown creek is supposed to be really nice. All the delayed harvest streams will be full of fish ready for the taking the first Saturday of June. But just buy that book you won't regret it, great for the toilet mag rack

I dont disagree, but pack a lunch, the hike from the parking area, is an hour, toting rods. You can easily get lost in that plethora of trails.

FYI< go back through cashiers on 64 headed east, down the big grade, take that left on Cedar, up the hill, and follow the signs to the parking area. Pretty as hell, tuff to fish.

This one, a bit pricey but it is great! The forty dollar one not the 100+ ones
