Just said it was in the boat
The 54th annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament opened Monday under ideal conditions and this proved to be perfect for the crew of the Flybuoy..
Flybuoy, captained by Todd Baxley of Charleston, S.C., landed the first blue marlin of the tourney after a 92-minute fight. Baxley is now headed toward the Big Rock scales and is estimated to arrive around 5:30 p.m.
Excellent weather yielded 30 billfish hookups, including 19 blue marlins and three sailfish. A rare billfish grand slam was recorded by Bench Mark, a Greenwood, S.C.-based boat captained by Bobby Garmany. The Bench Mark team released a white marlin, a blue marlin and a sailfish during the Big Rock opener.
Compromise, captained by Larry Braham, John’s Island, S.C., captured daily $2,000 prize for scoring the first release of the day. The Compromise crew hooked and released a blue marlin just 21 minutes into the competition.

Bingo!!! ..
Isn't is "safe" to say that a fish will typically loose 2%-4% of its body weight on a 3hr ride back to the scales. I was told that for every hour a fish is out the water it'll loose right at 1% of body weight...up to 6%-7% total ..basically its a dehydration thing which is understandable.
PS
Before the smart ass's chime in...this came directly from a former BR winner
The time we won Isle of Palms GC, there were no large fish bags yet. So, we covered the fish and bags of ice with our sleeping bags. Kept them hosed down the whole way in. Was pretty effective. After she was weighed, and lay on the dock waiting to be cleaned, you could watch the skin drying out pretty quickly.
The first year of the Charleston harbor tournament...we caught a dolphin that was first place at 54lbs as soon as it came out the water....7.5hrs later it was 50lbs and ended up being a 2nd place fish
