    Negative! Get a can of starting fluid or carb cleaner and spray around the motor while running if there is a leak in a vacuum hose it will idle up temporarily then idle back down.

    I say vacuum leak because I had a toyota that would stall when you pressed the brakes. Ended up being the vacuum line connecting to the master cylinder.
    I'm like a duck: calm above the water, and paddling like hell underneath....

    I had to replace the fuel sending unit in my 2001 two times. The second time I had the e xact same symptoms you describe. Cost about $650 parts and labor.
