    Default Lawn Mower

Time to get a new push mower. My 10 year Old Craftsman is about done. Anybody looked at or bought one recently?

Just bought a base model John Deere about 3 months ago and am very pleased.
I'm going to heaven for the weather and hell for the company.

    Self propelled or not?

I replaced a self propelled cub cadet with a troy bilt, high back wheels and a 5hp Honda for less than $300. High back wheels make it a little easier to push.

Prefer self propelled. Reading good stuff about some of the Hondas as well as Toro and Deere.

I get a new push mower every 6 months. Tried em all anything with a Honda engine is a safe bet. High wheels and /or caster wheels are nice. Have a snapper now. And like the quick level changer.

Self propelled look for a self pace system like toro's. I think honda has a system like it also. If just a plane push, look for light weight with the larger wheels in the back. For a plane push I prefer the cheapest because they are usually the lightest.

Edit: I have a Toro self pace that was my parents. This thing is 15 years old at least. I do have to change the drive belt every 2 to 3 years. Still running strong though and the deck has really held up well.
