    Default 1503 Super V project

1990 HT 1503, 20' transom - picked it up this morning. Trailer needs a new coupler & jack, otherwise in excellent shape. Boat is sound structurally, don't think the foam is saturated as I can lift the boat off the trailer fairly easilly. Transom is solid, no soft spots on deck. No stress cracks in the gelcoat, just lots of oxidation.
Should have it painted, wired & powered by April 15.

If you plan on running a 60 on it, mount a 12 gallon tank under that front bench.

Thats how mine is setup and its perfect.

I'm the only one out of several of us that have that front bench. I love it.

I'd get rid of the front bench but thats just me. I hate steping over things in a boat

Looks good! You are going to love it! Working on it and making it yours is my favorite part of new boat ownership.

Mine is laid out similar to yours. I honestly don't mind the front bench. My previous Hightide had a wide open floorplan and I really didn't have anywhere to store stuff.

    X 2.

It was always my understanding that it provided structural support for the sides of the boat.

Yep, I've heard this too, just not sure if its completely true.

Like I said though, depending on what motor you're running, its the perfect place for the gas tank.

    Here's my setup.

They are fun. If the one i had had been a tall transom, i'd probably still have it. It would roll out with that 40 merc on it.

I cleaned & prepped the cockpit w/a Scotchbrite pad & applied 2 coats of Rust-Oleum bed liner. It took less than half a gallon & added under 5 lbs of additional weight. I finished the cockpit with a 1 part poly marine paint. It's not really the color I wanted, but it won't be that big of a deal to repaint later if I decide to.
I'm getting the bottom of my other boat painted next week & will use the leftover paint to do a bottom job on this one, as I'll be leaving it in the marina quite a bit.
The hazy spots inside the gunnels is the clear coat - they'll disappeared when it dries.
