    Default CrossFit Open Starts Today

    It's go time people.

    WOD #1

    Complete as many reps as possible in 7 minutes of:

    Burpees

    This workout begins from the standing position. The Athlete will move from flat on the ground to touching an object with both hands that is 6 inches above their max reach. Score is total reps completed.

    Movement Standards

    Burpee – At the bottom position, the Athlete’s chest and hips must touch the ground. At the top of the movement, both hands must make contact with the target 6 inches above your max reach.

    Additional Notes

    The height of the target must be no less than 6 inches above the Athlete’s fingertips when they are standing, feet together, with a straight line through their wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip and knees. The Athlete should be shrugging their shoulders and reaching as high as possible, while the measurement is being made.

    If the Athlete touches with just one hand or misses, they may re-jump to complete the rep without dropping back to the ground. The use of a springy floor is not allowed.

    Wife's been training & she came home the other night & said "we had to do this move called hurpees & it was tuff". I fell out.

    15/minute puts you over 100 reps if you are gaming this.

    We'll be doing this one Friday at CFS.

    I'm not gaming - but I'm gonna do it. Wish I had known about it before my WOD this morning. I would have left the burpees off! I may do this one tomorrow as well.

    I did the 100 push ups, sit ups and squats last night after I ran... Squats is what got me. I have seen the burpees and I know it isnt easy. I am just wondering why type of workout. If I do 7 minutes of these do I even need to run or do anything else?

    The goal is to do as many as you can in 7 minutes.

    And I for one will not do a damn thing extra after finishing that 7 minutes.

    If you do it right (as in good range of motion coupled with not resting and maintaining intensity) you will not want to do anything else.

    A burpee is about as full body of an exercise as there is.

    Cardio? check
    Chest? Check
    Arms? Check
    Core? Check
    Legs? Check

    Got 83. What a let down. I was seeing stars and was on the verge of blacking out at 6 minutes.

    One of our coaches (a girl) got 123. That's #4 in the world right now. The gym owner got 122.

    Super human is what that is...

    Breaking 100 should get you blown by the woman of your choice.

    One of our gals hit 94 yesterday. She knows she had 6 more in her and was no rep'd 4 times.

    If I find who ever came up with a Burpee I will kick them in the nuts. I got about 3 minutes in and thought I was going to die. Now it hurts to walk today.
