After the game this year, the coots have the right to still be talking about that OVERPAID high school coach running the offense for them again next year. But I am proud to see at least this time you talked about how the CU defense can match up with the shitty offenses of the ACC alone.

    This is progress. Continue.

    and..
Whatever award he is going to win in Houston today?

Season didn't end like I would have desired, but 10 wins from last year is pretty strong....Great class coming in......2nd year under CM, they may have a chance to outscore 10 out of 14 teams next year. ..again...

Not to mention, Scar has won a few in a row, and just based on the sheer odds, Clemson is almost guaranteed a win this year....

Striked out maybe. Reckon Venables could have kept WV under 70?

Venables wanted full control of the defense - and he'll get it.

One observation, Venables was being demoted at Oklahoma and possibly faced termination by Bob Stoops. Kevin Tinfurl was being demoted and probably shitcanned by Saban when Dabo snatched up the "big Name" DC. Any other Tiger fans see a correlation? Now maybe Venables comes in and proves my observation all wrong, I'll have to see what the man can do before I form a opinion one way or the other. It just seems that other proven names kicked around weren't vetted very well.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Only time will tell for Venebles. He will do just fine as long as he remains a "yes man" with Dabo. Dabo doesnt take to those wanting 100% control too well... see Napier and Steele.

P.S. .... No one knows for sure how a hire will work out, but Dabo found one that has as good of chance as anyone to bring some toughness and sound defensive to them hills.

Confirmed this morning, Oklahoma's Brent Venables has been hired as Clemson's new Defensive Coordinator and LB Coach. His salary at OU was roughly 440K, and its expected he'll get 800-850K at Clemson. He leaves OU after being stripped of playcalling duties for Bob Stoops' brother Mike, whom he shared DC duties with before Mike left for Arizona.

Actually a pretty good post except for the supremely idiotic statement about "yes man"....
What he has shown is that he demands results. Not a bad thing. I really like Tommy bowden and his 8-2 record against scar, but it was obvious he was too loyal to his coaches to a fault. Jimmy Johnson was known to sever the chord pretty quick too.

Steele didnt have results? He had two great years. I think the problems had more to do with lack of talent, Dabo trying to be hands on, and the offensive system then Steele's xs & os.

Dabo claims he didnt fire him for his lack of production, but rather a disagreement in philosophy. So if I take him at his work, why am I not to believe he is looking for a coach who allows DAbo to have final control (a yes man)
