According to the SCDNR Board minutes posted on the DNR website, the "brown" duck limit was left with the "and" but the regulations are published with an "or". It actually says "and or" but based on the parentheses I think they meant to give us the "and" limit.

We might be able to get our brown duck back before the season.

Here's the quote from the board minutes:

2005-2006 Migratory Waterfowl Hunting Late Season Recommendations
Breck Carmichael reviewed the staff recommendations for the 2005-2006 Migratory Waterfowl Hunting Late Season as sent to the Board in their meeting package. The staff recommendation is for a 50-day season/ 6-bag limit. Mr. Davis informed the Board that the Waterfowl Advisory Committee did discuss mallard limits. After much discussion of pintail population, Chairman McShane offered the following amendment to the staff recommendations on the daily bag limit: 6 total [not to include more than 2 Wood Ducks, 2 Redheads, 1 Fulvous Tree Duck, 1 Black-Bellied Whistling Duck, 2 Scaup, 4 Mallards (not to include more than 1 female Mallard) and or 1 Black Duck or 1 Mottled Duck, and 1 Pintail]. Mr. Ragsdale seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Ragsdale made a motion that the bag limit also be amended to reflect one drake pintail. Mrs. Floyd seconded the motion. Mr. Evans suggested that there should be an education process first, then limit it to drake only. Mr. Frampton expressed concern about this proposed motion stating that he feels this is taking away an opportunity for the hunter and felt that there should be an educational process first. The motion failed with Mr. Ragsdale voting in favor.

Ms. Floyd made a motion that drake only be a phase-in process after a one-year educational effort. Mr. Murray seconded the motion. After a brief discussion, the motion failed with Ms. Floyd voting in favor.

Mr. Ragsdale made a motion to amend the proposed recommendation to reflect a 30-day pintail season this year, with a bag limit of one, occurring the last 30 days of the season to coincide with canvasback. Mr. Davis seconded the motion and the motion carried with Mr. Evans and Ms. Floyd voting against the motion.

Mr. Ragsdale made a motion that the Board approve the remainder of the 2005-2006 Migratory Waterfowl Hunting Late Season Recommendations as proposed by staff. Mr. Davis seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously.

It is also obvious that Smith Ragsdale and Stephen Davis were the ones that took the pintail season from us, but Karen Floyd and John Evans tried to keep it at 50 days.

Amazingly, Floyd and Evans are the two board member with terms that run through 2008. The other five including Ragsdale and Davis are up on July 1, 2006. We need to stay on the Governor and make sure that he appoints replacements that will let the DNR biologists do the jobs they get paid to do.

They could have screwed the paranthesis up and it should be "or" ...but think it more probable that they mean we get 4 mallards plus a mottled or black. The one twist on that is if they meant we can have 4 mallards AND 1 black/mottled it doesn't jive with the second "and" before the pintail (meaning they have two "and"s as part of the main [brackets] and they should only have one.

I know what I meant to say, but I word things worse than the state so this post may be less clear than SC politics/wildlife management.

Tamie Smith Ragsdale and Jonnie Evans both own tame duck shooting ponds. Who gives a rat's ass what those fools vote, think, or say.

As long as DNR continues to be "guided" by these pathetic excuses for sportsmen, I for one will ignore their stupidity and hunt as I wish to hunt and kill what I wish to kill. I guarantee you I will be doing more for wild ducks than 500 "laws" made by those pussy tamie shooters.

Political appointees are a fact of life, SCWA hand picked appointees are another animal altogether. Support your local gamewardens boys, but FUCK the DNR BOARD and all of the sickening shit we have put up with for the past few years.

If the biologists are going to be forced to bend to the will of a bunch of tame animal shooting faggots then let SCWA pick up their salary and be done with it. The real hunters will just HUNT like we always have. Get a ticker for shooting something some tamie shooter says you can't shoot? Fuckit. Pay yer fine and go on about your bizness. I have had enough.
Well I was too young and pretty and the whores wouldn't leave me alone.

I have witnessed first hand the fact that people hunting in Smith Ragsdales tamie farm do not obide by the law, a limit means nothing inside his compound no matter if its a wood duck or mallard, teal or occasional ringneck, its shoot till you come out, and dont worry about pickin up any ducks, his white naggar Johnny will get em for ya. THis one guy had so many tamie bands and calls on his lanyard that he had to wear 2 float coats incase he fell in.
