    Default Gold Band

A buddy sent me this pic not his bird not sure what the story is. Bird was killed in florida. What is the deal with a gold band guessing it is just a private bander.

is it gold for sure? looks like it could be a little rusty or tarnished from saltwater etc. do you have the info on the band?

No just a buddy got it in a text and sent it to me zoomed in with the phone and it looks gold, but could just be tarnished.

    Tarnished.

I have two like that, and have seen several others.

    Not uncommon at all.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Well obviously its not gold. Just did not know if there was a private group that banned birds and used a gold colored band as their trademark.

A lot of the mottleds that are killed on the coast have tarnished bands that look like that.

My brother killed a ring neck a few years ago that the band was so worn you couldnt read the numbers on it. They told him if he sent them the band they would try to laser etch (sp) the band to try and retrieve the numbers. They said he would not get the band back. He decided to just keep it.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!

Some private banders do use colored bans, but that looks tarnished
