Daytime Gator
Buddy down the street had a tag to fill & needed a hand filling it. Figured why not since i wasn't having to pick up any of the tab @ Cordray's this time. Went to the Cooper today & started looking around & found an 8ft gator 30mins after getting on the river who i thought was dead till i tapped him with a stick & he erupted(scared the shit out of me), needless to say he was too small. Looked some more & found this one but he was spooky, & we couldn't close to him for a while, so we anchored & waited while he went down & hid. He finally came up for air 40ft from the boat & my buddy launched a snag hook into his side & it was on from there. Got a second hook on him & the fight began, well until he slid under a log & wrapped us on it & swam 100yds from the boat when he surfaced & we realized we had a mess. Got all that straightened out & fought him for about 3hrs & we finally killed him with 2 bangstick shots & 2 40cal shots. Got him alongside & saw he was missing some tail(Cordrays said about 18inches) from fighting. He ended up weighing 641lbs & was 11'4 with the tail missing.
