    Default Type of Bullet?

    Headed down to chase some lizards this weekend and was wondering the best type of round to fire at gators from my pistol? FMJ? Hollow point personal defense round? Will be shooting at .40 most likely. Any help is much appreciated.

    Full metal jacket will penetrate better, but the JHP will work too.

    Thanks fellows. I was thinking FMJ for penetration purposes but just wanted to make sure.

    FMJ from a .40 will be just fine. Remember the boys on Swamp People used a .22. Shot placement, tape the mouth and then sever the spinal cord.

    Somehow yesterday we did things different we taped the mouth then shot him.

    I shot mine twice, then reached for his mouth like I always do and the joker opened his mouth and I knew he wasn't dead. We taped him up and loaded in the boat then cut the spine. He was hurt bad, but I wasn't chancin it.

    I think the fellas on SP use a 22 because they are selling the hide/head and don't want to risk a bad shot ruining it. I know a 22 will do it, but I like something bigger.
