“… duckhunting stands alone as an outdoor discipline. It has a tang and spirit shared by no other sport—a philosophy compounded of sleet, the winnow of unseen wings, and the reeks of marsh mud and wet wool. No other sport has so many theories, legends, casehardened disciples and treasured memories.”
--John Madson, The Mallard, 1960
"Never trust a duck hunter who cares more about his success than his dog's."
Sweeeeet.
We are getting some sort of faux rain here on the mountain. You can't see it but it drips off the roof. Need some real sustained rain for 3 or 4 days...
My mountain sits right between the headwaters of the Green River and Saluda watersheds. They are about a tenth of a mile apart here. The Green turns into the Broad and meets back up with the Saluda in Columbia to form the Congaree. Both watersheds are low as they get. I understand that the Wateree at the Farm is also dead low. Need some kinda something to get some water into the lake this year because it sure doesn't look like it will be coming from the top end...
Less than one tenth of one inch.
Buzzkill.
I don't need my name in the marquee lights....
I am here to tell ya, this place is odd as hell when it comes to rain showers.
1.1 at Dos Rios and still raining.

Too close to the asphalt. The storms come off all the concrete and pavement from Irmo to Columbia and hit the cool fields at Burwell's and dump out. Then they follow the river down to Wateree.
