Anybody recommend anything to get rid of Bahia grass? it's coming up pretty steady in the backyard, and just keeps getting higher and grows faster than the areas where I have centipede, gonnna try to kill these areas and convert the whole yard to centipede, will make mowing a whole lot easier.

Centipede can't tolerate much herbicide with the tempretures as high as they are. A chemical by the brand name Manor does a great job killing bahia in all grasses as well as a variety of other broadleaf weeds. A company named Lesco will carry Manor. It's not cheap but one bottle will last you for several years. Also, Manor needs to be mixed with a surfactant for maximum effectiveness. Try spraying in the very early morning so the chance of burning is minimal.

I never heard of Bahia grass. I have heard of Acapulco Gold, Hawaiian Electric, Jamaican Red, etc!

Seriously according to the web bahia is a southern turfgrass and also a graze for cattle.

Try using allie (sp) or cimaron. They are the same product just different size containers. Very good bahia grass control with minimal damge to centiped.

No matter what you use, I would wait until temperatures are in the low 80's and expected to be there for a few days.

Keep mowing it until October.

Ally will take care of it but it works slow. When I used it, it killed the "victory grass" but sand spurs replaced it. Not a good alternative. It is best to use Ally when the grass starts to head out, not right after cutting.
If it ain\'t accurate at long distance, then the fact that it is flat shooting is meaningless.

Manor does the trick. But Ruffdog is correct. They are right proud of it.Find a buddy who does landscape and split it with him.You don't need alot of it(unless you have a very big yard).
