I was wondering if any of yall plant chufa for ducks and turkeys and how yall handle post emergent weeds? We tried 2-4 DB last year and it just doesn't hurt the nut grass. Just wondering if there is any thing else we should try. Thanks.

Im pretty sure anything that would kill nut grass would kill the chufa...since it IS nutgrass...good luck!

IH, take a look at the post that I put up on this board a few days ago called "food plot weeds." I am having the same problem and was asking the same question. I got answers from some very well informed members but the consensus seemed to be that it is hard to control nutgrass w/o hurting the chufa.

Are you talking broadleaf weeds or grass weeds. I don't know of anything that will kill the grass without killing the chufa. If you are having a broadleaf infestation that can be handled, I believe.

For grass in your chufa, poast @1.5 pts. per acre or fusilade @ the same rate. use an oil surfactant. Thats whats on the bag from the nwtf.

Thanks for the replies. I guess we will just cultivate it to give it a headstart. Thanks.
