Dang, thats rough. I know i would catch hell loosing a month salary. I am glad he is back though. I think he is a good coach and a hell of a recruiter
USC quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus will lose one month's pay and be ineligible for raises or bonuses for a year as part of the conditions of his reinstatement.
After serving a one-week suspension without pay following an incident in Greenville last week, Mangus will resume his coaching duties on Wednesday. He will remain on probation throughout the term of his current contract.
“We insist that those in the athletics department who work with our student-athletes on a daily basis are held to a higher standard of conduct,” said USC athletics director Eric Hyman. “G.A.’s lack of judgment did not reflect the character and integrity that we expect from our coaches.”
USC on Tuesday officially announced the reinstatements of Mangus and senior quarterback Stephen Garcia.
A month's salary for Mangus is about $14,580. He makes $175,000 a year and received a $25,000 raise in April.
Mangus was arrested last week in Greenville on a charge of nuisance conduct after two Greenville police officers said they witnessed him urinating toward a downtown street. He was placed on indefinite suspension at that point.
Spurrier indicated last week that Mangus would miss at least some practice time, but he said Monday that will not be the case. Instead, Mangus was suspended for one week for the incident and that suspension started when he left a Greenville jail, Spurrier said.
