    Default Cat5 cable

I need about a hundred feet of Cat5 cable. One internet source has it for around $10 + shipping. Local source has it for $45.

Is there different qualities of cable or it is basically all the same?

Should be about the same. If you are in Columbia, go to Cable and connections on leaphart rd.

Appreciate it, just placed an order. If that doesn't work out I'll check the suggestion in Cola if I head that way.

It is one number higher. Sort of like an amp that goest to 11 instead of 10.

Cat6 is becoming the standard. Probably not a major concern now, but if you are installing cable, may as well go with a faster one.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

One more question, would Cat5e or Cat 6 with RJ11 ends be more secure than regular phone line for a DSL connection?

Probably ten feet or so from the jack to the modem. I have the second to the highest tier of dsl service available in my neighborhood with At&t. At times it runs a bit slow, and I'm just trying to make sure I have my wiring squared away and am getting my money's worth.

    Appreciate any help.

Cat5e has a higher quality insulation and I believe is less prone to interferience. Hence the name..cat5 enhanced.

Cat5e should be gigabit certified. Go cat5e.
