I am looking for a general idea as to the price of timber now. The trees in question are 9-11 inches in diameter, approx. 16 feet apart and the rows are approx. 8 feet wide. Oh yea, these are pines. Now how much would these be worth an acre in the Upstate?

    Thanks, Lab

duckman...the markets are different across the state. I just sold a first thinning that brought $300/acre. Too many variables to be generic...

from the stocking/spacing it seems as though this stand has been thinned once before. from your 16*8 spacing you have 340± trees per acre.

lots of variables to consider for price:
    acres
    location
    access
    tree quality
    logging conditions
    tree height
    others....

Thanks for the replys. Yes these trees have just been thinned within the last 18 months. Trees look very healthy and tall. Like I said, they are apprx. 11 inches in dia., Easy access off of paved road, apprx. 60 acres. Now what do you think.

A 50 acre tract near me sold not long ago for $1565 per acre(land and timber).

The timber had just been thinned. It sounds just like the tract you are talking about......except there is about 80 miles between them.

trees could be worth $500-1000/acre. Again, sight unseen its hard to make an accurate estimation.

I will be glad to help you out. I have a few clients in Anderson and I can easily get up that way. check your pms for my number.
