    Default Steak marinade?

I usually just throw in some italian dressing and pepper and a dash of worchestershire. Got the inlaws coming to town and going to grill them some steaks. What other types of marinades do ya'll use for steak? I know some of you boys got some homemade concoctions.

If you have to douse a steak in something other than a little S & P then you're not using quality cuts of meat. Salt, Pepper meet a hot charcoal grill.
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Ive got a couple thick ribeyes and 4 porterhouse. I guess I'm just used to marinating them before grilling. Was just looking to try something new.

I also prefer just a little salt and fresh ground pepper, sometimes some montreal steak seasoning just to mix things up. Get a good sear on each side, and let it cook to about medium rare.

If you insist on going with a marinade, try Mcormick's Peppercorn Garlic. I do venison steaks in that sometimes and it is pretty good.

moisten the steak with a little water, then give it a rub with some " Coarse Kosher Salt" the reason you use coarse is so you can see how much you are using. Let the steaks sit untill they are room temp. then grill them to your liking.

Walmart meat->marinate...If you are going to marinate it, get cheapest cut of meat you can find.

Good quality beef-> EVOO + Pepper + garlic rub down (or powder)

FYI,......If you are using salt on a steak, only do it right before you cook it. Salt toughens meat, imo

Ribeyes and porterhouse steaks have a higher fat content that give the flavor. Sear them on either side over direct heat with S & P and then move them off to finish on indirect. Grilled a Ribeye like that last night and damn it was good. Threw in a baked potato, grilled asparagus with EVOO S&P, and some broccoli. I think the carpet's still wet where the dogs were drooling on it.

My granddaddy always told me that if you need more than salt and pepper on your beef, that you need to kick your butcher in the balls.

    1/3, 1/3, 1/3 of Dale's, coke and Italian dressing for 12 hrs.

Right before you put it on the grill cover the steaks in a puree past of yellow onion, garlic and French's yellow mustard.

12 minutes per side on high.

sounds good, but spicy mustard is better......and put some liquid smoke in there too, that will give it a bolder flavor
