    Default Lab puppy sick?

My 6 week old lab is having some problems that concerns me. First, it is very lazy. He sleeps awhile but will get up to play at times. Another is it has loose stool and a few minutes ago, I believe I seen alittle blood in the stool. No vomiting. I feed him Nature's Recipe. We're going to the vet tomorrow for his shots. I am paranoid of Parvo.

He is really small. He was the smallest of the remaining liter.

Pups are like babies... Eat, shit, play, sleep... I wouldnt be worried about it at 6 weeks. As far as loose stool, shit happens.

Could have a little parasite load.

6 weeks is awful damn young to bring one home.

He is still very young, probably just has an upset stomach, 6 weeks is a little early to bring him home.

I agree, the ex coworker I got him from said he was ready. He was 4 days from 6 wks when I got him. Tomorrow he will be 6 wks. He was free. That is why I am worried because I wanted him to stay until 8 wks atleast.

He's headed to the vet in the morning and hopefully it's not parvo. Praying for the pup!!

He only goes after he eats and it is runny and light brownish red.

Sounds like he maybe a little wormy! 5 1/2 weeks is early but he will be fine.

While worms may of course be one cause another may very well be Giardiasis which has a number of the same symptoms. Get your dog to a Vet with a stool sample if possible. You are right to be concerned and whatever it is needs to be properly diagnosed by a real Vet and treated.

    Could also be coccidia.

Parvo usually shows as vomiting and bloody diarrhea.

    Absolutely right.

Only the most meticulous and reputable breeders will let you take a pup home at 5 1/2 weeks.
