Default Loss of a good friend...

Went to georgetown over the weekend and came home to find the my old black lab had gotten out of his kennel and got hit by a car. I had someone come check on him saturday and they said he was fine, must have gotten out sometime that night during the storm. He and I had been chasing ducks for 8 years now and the back yard just doesn't seem quite right without him..
I knew the day would come when he would be gone but I didn't know that it would be this soon. He was definitely a good friend and a loyal companion that will be missed.

Lost mine out of a "secure" kennel several years ago.

Dumbass was chasing a bitch in heat. Got in a fight the first time he got out, got stitched up, ($$$$) spent four days inside...

Went back out to the kennel on the fifth day, after I invested money in a top for it. Chewed a hole in it this time, went in the road, and got whacked.

I found him three days later in a ditch...in August. I somehow managed to get him picked up, in the bed of my truck, and took him to the farm and buried him.

Waited about 8 years to get another one.

    ***Edit***

Sorry for your loss. Cauterize the wound with a puppy now, or wait.

i've got a 5 month old that i'm scared to death of that day already...me and my fiance went out of town this past weekend and left him with a friend who kept him in an 8-foot high chain link kennel. i didn't think there was any way he could get out of it...got a call on saturday that he had bitten through the ties at the bottom and squeezed out under the chain link. i'm just glad he hung out in the yard with their other lab instead of wandering into the road not 50 yards away...

    sorry for your loss brother...

Our labs chill on the sofa watching TV when we aren't home. It's just safer that way.

    Sorry for your loss.

My dog stinks WAY too bad to be chilling in the house all day. Where I live, it doesn't matter much. He's so damn lazy he just hangs out in the barn most days.

    A lab can break out a window...there's no 100% anything...even in a padded cell...they'd chew the padding.

Terribly sorry to hear that! I lost a big yellah years ago that way and don't mind sayin I shed a tear for that dog. When you start getting the itch for another; I'm sure some folks on here can help.

Lost my first lab to a Ford on Christmas day. I was in middle school when it happened and I still miss her. Hope your pain ends soon, but the memories last forever.

thanks you guys, I appreciate it. Luckily I still have my gsp so I don't think I will be getting another lab soon. But I will definitely be on here asking for advice when I do start searching for one.
