    Default Virus & Spyware

I know this has been posted before but what is the best software for this shit. I have Norton installed on the black box here and keep getting messages that it is expired and I need to buy another subscription. I know there are some that are free but are they all trial or can you get one that actually works longer than 30 days. Do I just uninstall Norton before downloading?
Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn't go so far as to call a dog filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Uninstall Norton, restart. Go and download / install Avira or Avast. Both have a free version and are pretty decent. Malwarebytes is the best (imo) spyware removing software out there right now and it's free.

Yeah, and the best way to not get cooter critters is to keep your dick in your britches but some shit just ain't practical and you just have to take a chance.

i've had better results out of Super Anti Spyware than malwarebytes. I also use AVG free. That said, i still have some BS on my computer. redirects me when i click a link out of a google search. i hate computers. the spyware people are the ones doing it IMO.

I know what you're talking about. I spent days chasing that same one on my wife's old laptop. It outsmarts Malwarebytes and Process Explorer. I tried renaming 'Process Explorer' (which is a software that identifies what's running on your computer so you can turn it off or delete it) to 'IExplore', but that didn't work either.

I finally ended up doing a HDD reformat and a full reinstall of Win XP before I got rid of it.

    Good luck!

As for antivirus/anti-malware softwares... I use Avira 'Free', Malwarebytes Antimalware (as a scanning tool only since it's not resident in memory), but I also keep Spybot Search & Destroy resident memory active using 'TeaTimer.exe'. It seems to do a pretty thorough job overall using the combination.

    Let me use layman's terms...

"In regards to anti-virus and anti-malware softwares, I use Avira Antivirus (the free version), and "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" (that's the name of the software). The Malwarebytes software (the free version) can only be used as a manually controlled scanning tool. It is not automatically "on" in resident memory.

However, I also use another free software called "Spybot Search & Destroy", which is an excellent "spyware/malware" scanning software, but also has an add-on software available called "TeaTimer.exe". The TeaTimer software can be set up to automatically load at machine start-up and, thus, block spywares/malwares on an active basis versus just cleaning them up after they get on your machine.

By utilizing those four softwares, along with a regular drive cleaning using 'Crap Cleaner', another free software, our PC's stay in fairly good shape.

Does that help? Or do I need to rephrase it with a 'drawl'?

I have Avira's premium version on 7 machines and I have yet to a problem that I know of.

But I am trying to figure out where a video named "Nipps" came from that ended up on my Zune.

I have an slight idea it was Big Brother.

I would be glad to share it if I could figure that out.

nothing is 100%. i just scanned my pc with malwarebytes and i'm clean. i havent scanned it in 10months (time since i last formatted). the key to viruses/malware/spyware/trojans/whatever, is to know what not to click on. btw, ms removal tool isnt that hard to get rid of. i took it off of a friend's pc last week.
