    Default Wet Upstate birds..

Watched these this morning out the van window. 2 struters and several others that were fighting over peckin order, and a bunch of hens.

I used to have as many as 31 birds show up regularly in my back meadow. Now I'm lucky to see 3 or 4 occasionally. Not sure where they disappeared to...

Funny........I saw birds everywhere today. Even North Charleston had em out today. Put four more into strutting mode in Cross and even got a few to gobble. Did my little heart good to watch and hear.

Today was my turkey day! I had another long beard stroll up the the van, got with in 20 yards! He was feeding and acbout to cross the dirt road I was parked on and I called at him with just my mouth and hand(I use a wingbone call alot) and he broke out in a strut. I couldnt hear if it was druming or not since I was in the van and it was running! I had him struting for 10-15 mins but he never would gobble. He was so close to the van I figured if I blew the horn he would shock gobble, but that didn't work either. I guess he was call shy! Maybe he was smart enough to know that a hen wasn't in the van, and he didn't need to gobble. Oh well, I was hoping for a gobble but didn't get one.

Again I didn't have a decent camera and he was between me and the sun! I think I'll throw the canon in the work van tomorrow!
