    Default 'Doodles

Big Brother and I went looking for some doodles this weekend.

    We found 'em.

I said we found them, not killed them.

I had a shot on another and was slow pulling the trigger and he disappeared on me, never to be seen again.

Surreal moment of the day was when BB's Drahthaar caught a summer duck hen hiding in the bushes. Looked like someone had crippled her and she was laying low, over 100 yds or better from the nearest water.

Also. Stop calling her a setter, dammit. I go through that enough as it is.

    Woot!

That was the pup's first official duck.

Sunday, he made his first water retrieve on a cripple. Took some doing, but he finally got it.

I will be damned if that long legged, big pawed critter would let that duck be anywhere else but right beside him at his feet.

Delta in a nutshell: Breeding grounds + small wetlands + big blocks of grass cover + predator removal + nesting structures + enough money to do the job= plenty of ducks to keep everyone smiling!
