you give thanks for columbus, too?
nice looking dead critters, Harv.
Ugh. Stupid people piss me off.
Toof we gave traditional thanks.Without Columbus we'd still be drinking weak corn beer.Art,the turkey went on at 10:14 am and was off at 5:55 pm.Started out at 225deg till 4 o'clock bumped it up to 350 as it hit the plateau(about 150deg) and internal temp wouldn't rise.Hit 180deg where I wanted to finish just before 6.Smoked with pecan.Stuffed with kraut and onion.(sounds strange but you hafta try it) Stuffed a chicken that way one time and it was one of the juiciest and tender birds I've cooked , worked on the turkey as well. Bird was 13-1/4 pounds when purchased.Art,I've actually not tried doing up a butt. Hafta rectify that I reckon.

Man that looks good. I been itching to buy a BGE, but I've been putting it off. Your food pics just pushed me over the edge!
moose looks great Harv...
Bone....
did you use a rub or anything besides kraut and onion? was the kraut, sourkraut for the turkey? do you think one would work on a gas grill at about 275 degrees? i've been thinking of trying to cook one on the grill and have to ask a lot of questions.
Yeah I used a commercial poultry rub, plain sauerkraut not the wine flavored stuff was the kraut.Gas grill will work,275 would speed up the process a bit.If I had more than 1 burner I'd try indirect (shut off one burner and put your stuff opposite the live burner).I just like to eat and have found that in general there ain't no doin wrong on the grill.Gas might be a bit drier than the egg so I'd baste it a few times. Take pics!! *edit and shit* My buddy Tank does his on the grill almost like in the oven,in a pan with a bit of liquid. He does have a huge grill.
