Got in the stand around 6ish about 20 minutes later a lone doe steps out into the hay field. He quietly asked if he could shoot her and i told him that this was all him, I was just there for moral support. Well after about 10 minutes of trying to get his nerves under control he squeeze the trigger and she was still standing there looking around. By the time he got the spent casing out and a fresh one in she had raised the white flag and headed back to the swamp. Of course he was upset about missing, and just knew he had blown his opprotunity. I told him that we still had a good bit of day light left and that i was sure we'd see more (man i hoped so). No more than a few minutes later another doe and yearling came to graze, followed by a few more does and this little pecker head who insisted on running everyone from "his" corn pile. He tried for what seemed like hours to get his nerves under control and hold the cross hairs steady on "the spot". He finally took a deep breath, held it, and i watched as the barell of his .243 went from doing figure 8's to what appeared to be dead calm, as he slowly squeezed the trigger i watched as the deer fell to the ground without moving a muscle. It was definately a good day!
