Caught this fella sneaking in to the corn pile after hearing my grunt call about 7:10 yesterday. Shot was 15 yards with the grizz trick. I hit him a little high and a shade farther back than I intended to. Still a good shot (double lung) as he only went about 75 yards. He didn't bleed much at first, but finally opened up about 30 yards into the trail.

In case anyone is curious, this is the first one I've shot with a grizz trick. It left a hellacious entry and exit hole, but blood was a little sparse. It's 100% my fault becuase the shot was a little high. I don't think I'll use them anymore as my confidence is low in them at this point. They just don't seem to group as well as standard tricks that I'm used too.

I'm off to look for number 3.

That's the most confusing explanation of why you aren't using a broadhead again that I've read.

Keep wearing those dinks out and congrats.

Confused about how you lost confidence in the broadhead if it was 100% your fault...

If you add up the two deer you have killed so far you'd have a 180lb 11pt. If its brown its down I guess

They just don't group as well as my standard tricks. You know how easy it is to lose confidence in something.

I've got a couple small tracts of land around home that are meat holes. I could lose any of this property any day, so I fill the freezer off these spots. I'm done shooting "dinks" for not though.

It will be hard to find anything that will group as good as standards.......except for magnums and Razor tricks. Try what you're most confident in and aim lower. The small bloodtrail was caused by the high lung shot.

Speaking of Clemson, did you get that T-shirt at the 1981 National Championship after party? Looks kinda stingy.

If you don't think deer will come to a grunt call year round, your opinion is not very valid. Keep yours in your bag until november if you prefer.

    Thanks for the congrats.

Ha, I figured that was coming. I actually got this shirt at orientation before I started Clemson. As several on here know, that makes it over ten years old, but its the most comfy shirt I've got. The old lady gives me a hard time about it, but she knows she'll go before it does.
