Default Front Yard Buck RIP 8-18-10

Well I need to give HDLabs a big thank you for coming to my rescue this afternoon to help drag this deer out. I had him patterned pretty decent from the trailcam but when I arrived home yesterday to find he was on the corn pile at 10:30 AM and we had just had a big thunderstorm here in Lexington I knew he was close and he should move before dark. I had a small 7 point and a doe out in front most of the time I was there and he stepped out just before dark. To make a long story short I did not find him until 3:00 this afternoon in about a foot of water (submerged)after a long restless night. I am grateful to have had an opportunity to harvest this deer so close to home and I probably put more work into this deer than most of the ones I have killed over the years.
9 pt., 17.5" spread and a guess of 180 lbs.

    Nice Buck
I'm like a duck: calm above the water, and paddling like hell underneath....

is that the driveway, front porch blind deer?

i gots to know....what constitutes "working hard" for that deer and why would you drag the entire critter out, you think it will eat?

Sprig, we thought the cape on the deer might still be good since he was under slightly cool water since midnight last night. No attempt made at salvaging the meat but at least we spent 7+ hours searching and finally found him. My work process started back in the 1st of june scouting and documenting travels via 3 trailcameras so therefore a lot time went into learning this deers behavior.

it's important to know a deers behavior when he shows up every day in your front yard.

Great job on a fine deer.
