    Default its BGE time

Harv...fellow compatriots...the dog days of summer are winding down. School is back in session for my kids starting this week. So, no more weekends at the beach. Since i will be blessed with a lot of "home time" this weekend, i think its only right to smoke something on the Big Green Egg.

I have had enough of boston butts shredded into Q....so I was thinking about a chicken...maybe some ribs (beef?), or some other wondrous meaty animal.

    what say ye?

If you're inviting me, I would like some beef ribs. If not, save them until such time as you feel inclined to invite me.

Dove breasts marinated in zesty Italian dressing, skewered with a slice of jalapeño and wrapped in bacon sounds pretty tasty. You could invite Fish up for some and he could teach you all about high-brass shells.

I'm with HARV - Do a Turkey - and sit his ass on a big ol' can of Foster's.

Speaking of which, I might get geared up for a turkey on the Orion myowndamnself.

I'm bout this close ( ) to buying one of them fancy cookers. I have been looking at the BGE, Primos and the Kamado Joe. The final decision is coming soon.

my egg is roughed the hell up. its used weekly if not more during the summer. i smoke a boston butt every couple of weeks and got it down pat so i can honestly "set it and forget it."

i have only cooked directly on it a few times....you know, burgers and such. i like the way that thing works, for sure.

as for deciding between the BGE and the Komodo thingie...i dont know. I know one is a lot cheaper but i wonder if its as nice as the BGE. I am right happy with mine....

did the pork loin before. it was jam up. actually had one last night that i had cooked and frozen...but it was a pork tenderloin.

i like the turkey idea...and likely a beef brisket, too. i love me some beef brisket sliced thin on a sammich.

Beef Brisket gets my vote. Should give you plenty of time to drink beer.

Standing Rib Roast could be good too.
