Powerline
I have seen people cut a tree down and let it die then take the tree to the field and use an auger to stand the tree up in the field. Dead trees are magnets for doves.
Warning: The Surgeon General has determined that turkey hunting is an addictive activity that will disrupt normal sleep patterns!
Ok.thanks!
yall are starting to overthink this dove hunting thing.
Spray yourself with Decomate Dove Dander (or D3) as well. Get on the up wind side of the field and prepare to turn your barrel red.

Haha.I was just seein what ideas yall had.I'm not going to really carry a tree out in the field for doves.I'm just gunna hide and shoot them when they fly over!
The first time I realized how effective decoys are on doves was when I propped my first two dead birds of the shoot in a little bare sapling on a fence row. I sat right under the sapling and when doves would spot the "decoys", they'd come through gunfire to get to them. It was like I was invisible. I cut my limit in no time because they were point blank shots. After that, I went crazy trying new ways to deploy dekes. I've cut saplings and planted them in the field. I made a telescoping pole with a crossbar that I clipped decoys on. Now I'm back to trying to be a minimalist and carrying as little in the field as possible.
camo? surround yourself with sunflowers or corn and it doesnt matter what youre wearing.
i've never used them but i have noticed that the dove decoys do work.
I bet the decoys do work.I bought a couple from walmart to give a try this year!
If your on a good private field .... sit there, be still, wear darker colors, don't miss.
I could see their uses if you were on a public field though.
We have a large field, and the decoys come in handy during the late season hunts. Most of the hunts are with a group of around ten to fifteen in a forty acre field. Even if you have plenty of birds you don't have enough men to stop them from lighting. We have a powerline running down the center of the field, and there will be decoys on it in the winter. They work. I've put them up in the first season before, but it'll just about ruin the rest of the line.
