Clearfield Sunflowers/ Deer repellent

Figured I put a few pictures of the sun flowers that where spayed with Miller hot sauce mixed with vaporguard(surfactant) and a strip that was not. They destroyed the strip that wasn't sprayed.

What kept them from eating them earlier? Looks like they let them go a long time without bothering them.

Also, just curious... why the two different planting methods? Top pic looks like it was disced and planted vs bottom pic is no-till.

What is the mixture you put on them?

The whole thing was strip tilled, Not disced or drilled. 4 weeks ago we put the pocanite on them, it kept them off until we had a big rain. 2 weeks ago we put the hotsauce to them mixed with the surfactant and this is the result. They were also sprayed with beyond last week. Spayed it at 1pt hotsauce and 1pt vapor guard in 100 gals of water, applied at a rate of 15 gals/acre. The pictures speak for themselves.

Did you spray the entire field or just the perimeter?

Sprayed all the sunflowers, 8 acres of them, except the last little piece because we ran out and didnt feel like mixing another tank. Should have mixed another tank. If I were spraying beans I may try spaying a perimeter depending how bad the deer are since once they taste this stuff they arent going to want another bite for a while.

Man they def mowed the ones down without the hotsause mixture. Can you spray it on anything?

I dont know how long it will be effective, this was our first time trying it, 2 weeks and counting. The Miller rep. told us upwards of 2 weeks when there is regular rain , which we have not had. I dont see a reason to re-apply yet and they have really jumped the past 2 weeks so we may not do it again. As far as what you can apply it on, you can put it on anything you want, produce should not be harvested for at least 2 weeks I was told, but it wont hurt the plants. YOU NEED TO WEAR GLOVES WHEN HANDLING IT, it is strong in its concentrated form.

what is that gonna run an acre? and can it be tank mixed with the Roundup, Flexstar, Quadfire mix we are running right now? We have been going around the last group 5 we planted the last few days. I think the Temik we put at planting is helping us I have only seen any noticeable damage in one place (the middle of the Shuler Belt) but I imagine they will be hard on the nuts in Eutawville.

You can put it out with roundup or anything else for that matter, should work fine. $7 an acre

Greco, I think he's saying it's made by Miller Chemical. (agrochemicals)

I know most Carolina Eastern locations carry Miller products.

just for info purposes, do you know how it compares to milorganite (cost and effectivenes), also i will be ordering the stuf we talked about last week

Compared to poconite i feel it worked better. I believe its also cheaper per acre.
