As long as 100% of this will go to the DNR,anyone who opposes this is a dumb ass.If things keep going the way they are now,SC will be a lawless state in a couple of years (or less) with the budget cuts.....cut out all the game wardens and who is gonna catch poachers and rouges....hell go up $20 per license !

DB68, I think I speak for everyone taking the no stance on this in that they agree wholeheartedly with you. It's just that none of us have ANY faith in the GA to do ANYTHING that will benefit ANYONE but themselves. Basically it boils down to do you as a licensed sportsman want to foot the bill for something that in no way assists you in your pursuits of said game be it fish, deer, ducks, turkeys, etc.
Let's just say the GA allots $20 million for DNR, institutes this admin fee of $2 and 250K people buy a license and pay the $2. Their budget will not magically become $20.5 million, it will instead STAY $20 million and the 1/2 million brought in by the fee will be taken from the alloted $20 million and used elsewhere...THAT's what's been happening forever with education and we are sick and tired of it.

I'd support it as long as all the money went to DNR and if they promised not to use the money to stock more grass carp.

    Alright, y'all brought up education.

Bear in mind that both of our kids are in advanced programs. Just different grades.

Yesterday my 13 yr old was sent home with a stack of brand new books FOR FREE to keep and read over the summer. (Note: Whatever happened to a library). Most of these books our 10 year old had already read in his programs. Granted one is a rising sixth grader at one school and the older is a rising seventh grader at another but it is the same school system.

That brings to mind all kinds of questions. Can the Dept of Education not keep up with what books children read on what levels? Who paid for these books? Is money being wasted on books and programs?

And who is it that recently pointed out 44% of each $ gets to the classroom. Something is really wrong.

And what else is really wrong is the taking of money intended for one use and putting it elsewhere.

I would bet $100 that sportsmen would be willing to pay for a license increase if all of DNR's money went to DNR. The General Assembly is funding other programs when they take DNR money.

Money received from each property closing is to be used for the purchase of wilderness land in SC. Where si that money going. The GA tapped that for other uses. That should be unlawful.

I do believe that most hunters and fishers in SC realize they are using a resource that we must maintain and they would pay for it.

    x2.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

Bad thing is, what if one of the carpmongers get in charge of DNR and it isn't run by the GA...I guess there would have to be accountability. That is crazy. Why don't we sub out our dnr biological work to florida dnr to make decisions?

x4. Brilliant proposal. Toofer for Gov, 2010! Imagine that, the department of natural resources run by...someone other than those with special interests...holy shit, what a concept. Not only that, but entirely funded by those that participate...damn. Another amazing concept.

BTW, the money raised in license sales are matched by federal money. This money will stay in the DNR...because it stays out of other grubby fingers.

What is federal money? Tax revenue...and an animal of another color.

BTW, there is a place on the online license sales for you to donate if you so choose. You don't need the GL to pass a law, you can give all you want. Give till it hurts. That money probably does stay in the DNR

The ones that's in favor of this increase must realize the state is not the only ones suffering budget cuts. Alot of people in SC has took paycuts from there jobs and there are alot of people who has gotten layed off in the last couple of years!!

If $2 is a deal breaker, they dont need to be worrying hunting or fishing.

$2 can easily turn to $10 and eventually more. Give them an inch......

phuck em- they have had MORE than one chance- the GA as well as all forms of government agencies- only they would increase government wages as well as spending while the public sector continues to fall and correct itself-
