Default Texas Police Secretly Deploy Spy Drones

Why does a police department need something like this? I can understand the military uses, but not so much in a civilian scenario.

Local media exposed what was supposed to be a secret maiden flight & demonstration. The UAV has onboard cameras that the report says have the capability to look into your home (through the walls & ceiling) and see what the occupants are doing. It is likely the cameras use a combination of IR, radar, and a form of 'backscatter' X-Ray. Privacy rights are now dead. Does your local gestapo have one flying over YOUR home?

I would hope they are for the illegal infestation.

That would be my guess. Police departments have used fixed and rotary wing assets for years for aerial surveillance or shadowing of suspects, traffic observation, etc.... This is no different ... Just puts the pilot on the ground, and it's burning a lot less fuel. Fuel and maintenance costs from flight operations with traditional aircraft are more than many agencies can sustain in today's economy.

They'll use it like they did in the super high speed/terminal velocity OJ Chase!
