    Are you from California?

What use is a gun that is locked up?

Why not educate your children about guns. Teach them that they are a very effective tool, just like a circular saw. Take away the mystique of "don't touch, its a gun" and you have a lot less problems. Any time my children want to see or shoot a gun, they can.

A special needs child can be trained not to play with electricity or circular saws or to not put their hand on a hot stove, they can be trained to not play with a gun without supervision.

Your knee-jerk reaction to a hot-button issue reveals many things.

I am all for education, and I think it is the most important part of gun safety.
But even with education there is still a natural draw to guns.... you cant always be around to make sure your guns are being properly used, so excuse me for wanting to be on the safe side.
Your lack of concern reveals many things too!

I would argue that JP has the highest "quality" to "trash talk" post ratio on this site.

    Well said.

Gun safety and target shooting ought to be a mandatory course in elementary school. Instead they teach sex ed and give them books about having two daddies.

Back when my dad was in high school kids took military training and rifle shooting. They respected a gun. This was before WWII. It was also in Georgia.

Nowadays kids see guns on TV as a means to solve a problem quickly. It should be a last resort.

To all of you fathers out there, take note! Brothers and Uncles as well. Hell, any male figure in a young persons life.
