My first experience with tortellini was in Regensburg, Germany in the late 90s. Up until that point I'd never had anything more Italian than sgetti noodles covered in Winn-Dixie brand sauce.

Tortellini for the first time was damn near a life changing event.

    Cheeseburger thread came back around.

Serious question, do any of you people put salt and pepper in bowls for seasoning food as you’re cooking?

I usually keep some salt in a small bowl when I'm cooking. Easy to grab a pinch and toss it in, especially when I'm boiling water.

    Yes!

Who else boils water just to boil water? My wife does sometimes. I’ll walk in the kitchen, water is rolling, and she’s on the front porch talking on the phone.

We all pull up at the same time, and a guy decked out like a mother fucking cowboy gets out, a ten gallon hat. I've seen him around, and in no way do I understand him being a "cowboy". I mean you might of jumped on a horse a few times, but you sure as shit aren't a ranch hand.

So, here we are walking into this place with a living hat, it's not dropping off of his head while we walk in. We are shown to the table, ordering, hellos, and all of that is taking place when I hear him say "I want prime rib, well done", there's an uncomfortable pause then "hey maam, I'd like a small bowl, not one of them little ones, a big one, with ketchup"..
Sounds like a friend of mine who mixes copious amounts of A1 and Heinz 57 in a bowl and slathers it all over any steak he eats.

I watched him do that in the best steakhouse in San Antone. Thought the Maitre D' was going to faint.

I have a countertop induction burner (120V). It will boil two cups of water in 90 seconds. I bought it because the ad said that and have won several bets since I purchased it. It is remarkable. Having said that, it scares my wife, she stares at it like it is the devil. MG
