    Default Rainy Day Doves

Heading to the field in a couple of hours. There's a 50% chance of rain and I'm curious how it will affect the birds. I've only shot doves in the rain on a couple occasions and that was before I kept a journal of my hunts. I'll post back up this evening when I get home and let y'all know my thoughts.

What have y'all noticed about rainy day doves?

I have had some good shoots shortly after the rain ended or had a break in the rain.

Never got wet but the field was slow. Shot at 5 birds, brought 4 home and lost the other in the woods.

The shooting was slow yesterday, it did not rain - just threatened. I'm of the opinion that the birds have moved on out ahead of the "cold front." My buddy in North GA lost all of his birds on Tuesday of this week.

I always noticed that if your hunt doves earlier in the afternoon if late showers are expected or even in the morning on cloudy rainy days their flying alittle more than late afternoon. Seems to me there trying to get fed before the weather really hits big.

for me- except for opening season social shoots there is nothing better than a year old clearcut loaded with berries on a drizzly cold winter day...

That ranks up there with....: I'm here from the Gov. to help you..'
