We used to but little packets of cigarette loads. They were little wooden pegs coated in that stuff.
Another good hunting club camp prank is to take a .22 cartridge and pry the lead out and dump the powder. Then find a dupe and tell him that you can brass plate a matchstick with spent .22 cases. Hold the empty case on the LOOSELY fitting matchstick with it pointed at his belly then apply heat with a butane. It takes about 30 second. It will hit him in the belly just about the time he expects it to melt. Be ready to run.
