WORLD CUP!!!!

Nutz and I got caught up in the World Cup while down in Mexico a couple weeks ago. They do love the sport of soccer and it was a lot of fun watching the people from different countries living and dying with every goal scored. The bars would pack with people for the duration of each match. I watched the final yesterday and I realized that all my life I had thought soccer was a pussy sport. After watching the Final game I realized that I have been right all along...

funny how the football players on our soccer team back in highschool were the ones always getting hurt and complaining about elbows, cleats, etc.

Personally never really gave a shit about watching it myself, I agree with Rebel on a waste of good farmland, but I must admit the T & A above was nice, maybe I'll catch the highlights after that

I just think that it is pretty freakin cool how a sport can mean so much to people. To be totally honest i have never played serious soccer and dont ever even watch anything EXCEPT the World Cup. When I went to boarding school my ninth grade year, ( when i found out what the world cup was) my roommate was from Guatemala and every time that his country played or anybody's country played they got to get out of school to watch. I also went to argentina that same year. You would have never beleaved the amout of spirit these people have. every bar and every TV was slam full of people watching...from begening to end. I havent talk to my frind from guatemala in four years and he found me and wrote me an e-mail to see if I would be watching and now we are getting to talk about. I also think it is pretty damn awsome that little countries such as Ghana and Czech Rep. beat the US. Not by any means am I happy that we lost but think about what those players must feel like to take on the most powerful country in the world and say that they have deafeted us. That can make dreams come true for people that live in a country were people die of starvation. When you watch the world cup, your not just watching a soccer game, your watching countries being able to support something that they beleave so strongly in that they go back to there country as hero's. Do you think those people in Ghana know who Jeff Gordan is, hell no..but they know that they and the Chzec took down the most powerful country in the world. Its one month every four years, that countries can win in something and be proud that they live in a country from which they are from. The money to them is nothing the PRIDE is everything, know tell that to the jeff gordans or the kobe byrants, or whoever you may think are your hero's.

Bad news: Now I have to wait 4 FREAKIN' YEARS before I can be personally involved in such triumph and joy.

In the meantime, I'm gonna watch 3 years of baseball and guys knockin the piss out of each other playing FOOTBALL our way!
