Default When do you flood your "corn pond?"

If you have a field of corn that you flood for ducks - and have the means to flood it when you choose - what is your target date for flooding the field?

lots of factors to consider, not a date "able" question. but typically after burning which is after frost..

Do you burn a corn field before flooding? I didn't know that was legal if you're going to hunt the field. Or are you describing a field with natural vegetation rather than corn?

i think he's referring to the burn that the frost lays down.... not an actual burn as in fire...

    ABB,

In the past it has always been on Nov. 1st. Last year and this year have been much different. I have been flooding inside with a well. Also, I am awaiting more rain to fall in the upper part of the county to flood my river fields. The salt wedge has worked it's way up here and me and my neighbors need fresh water to flood out there.

The doors are closed and I am allowing water to seep up and collecting whatever rainfall I can. Just a little more rain and a reduction in the tidal amplitude will freshen the river.
