Well, I got a few pics of this buck early this week and knew he was one over his prime and a real trophy. I showed the pics to Gene and told him what to do if the opportunity presented itself.
A great old warrior of a buck he is @ 7.5+ years old! His ears are torn and scarred like an old cape buffalo...he also has an area of exposed bone on the top of his scull the size of a quarter! We will determine his exact age @ the end of the season.
Here is a trail cam pic and one of his jawbone for those who want to see an old one!
Gene can give ya'll the rest of the story....great start to the season for me!

You ever heared the story bout the Old Bull"Glenda", The Young Bull"Pbiz" and all the cows down in the valley"All da hoes in da bar"?
The "Young Bull"(Pbiz) looked at the "Old Bull"(Glenda) and said lest run down to the valley a skrew one of those "cows"(Hoes in da bar)...The "Old Bull"(Glenda) looked at the "Young Bull"(Pbiz) no son lets walk down to the valley and skrew all those "cows"(hoes in da bar)....

Old bucks like this one become more placid and very tolerable of the does and fawns...I am not seeing these real old bucks in bachelor groups.
His tarsals are really large but completely devoid of and staining indicating an absence of any breeding activity.
He simply lacks the drive to rub his antlers clean!
However, as of last week I had not seen a clean set on camera yet....seen one this wee!

He looks blind in one eye.

    That's a 25 point deduction.

May be the first kill I have seen on here that someone didn't label "Good one for next year" or "He'll be a shooter next year"

could that mean he is past his breeding sexual prime...like some of these ole bassards on scducks?

Very nice old deer. Great mass. Probably doesn't score well due to the short tines, but he is probably the best "trophy" I've seen on this site.

This is the next ole man on the hit list and I know he is 8+ years....
Typical "over the hump" body and antler characteristics and what a trophy!
