but the SOB was in the wheelhouse. I was already smiling, knowing he was getting ready to die. I just couldn't believe that the deer i was after was actually standing exactly where i wanted him to having never hunted in there before.

had it been a little brighter in there...or had he been turned a little....

hell, i just want him dead now.

I had that happen about 8 yrs ago. Passed on him twice. One time he was at 22 yds and I watched him make a scrape for 45 seconds or so. I misjudged the yardage and was scared to try the shot. A few days after the second encounter, he jumped in the highway and caused a 3 car collision. He was a monster. A friend stopped and tried to get the horns, but the lead car wouldn't let him have them. They loaded the deer and took it.

Hope that doesn't happen to you.

geez...why do i even post this shit. makes me angry. bloodied a decent buck with the rifle sunday evening. Team Billy (g-belly and BGGuy) helped me look till midnight. Guy went back yesterday. No deer. Damn it all. Why did I even think about taking the rifle out???

then, last night. Got invited by a buddy to come bow hunt his place in rembert. Had deer on me the whole time. Thought Team Billy was about to get on the scoreboard. Then, a pretty nice 8pt comes charging OUT OF the beans. Reckon he was bedded the whole time. Well, about dark, he started coming back....within 50 or so steps. and then the bitch closest to my stand started getting all worked up over smelly old me up in the tree and they all went off in different directions. the bastards.

i need someone to let me shoot a 4pt and let's get this karma bitch off my back.

there is no way a piece of clothing can keep my stench from getting out. think about it. i am sweating like a mule. unless they zip me up in an airtight bag, there is somewhere that stinks that aint covered by a jacket or pants. I aint paying a couple hundred dollars for something my common sense tells me wont work (esp this time of year)

to be honest the 8pt was in a great spot (albeit to my right) as far as the wind goes. the doe and little one were right under me at this point and the momma would NOT quit staring at me. i won most of the battles, but i think she finally had enough and did her job of protecting her man. who knows wtf they were thinking?

i dont know SW. it was gene's fault. we had 7 bucks out there and the one i wanted to shoot kept getting mixed up in the others. i had the safety off a few times and was squeezing the trigger when SOMETHING would happen. i shot at 8:43...so it was dark...but i have no excuse. It must've been a bad shot. very little blood...but enough to follow for 3 hours...i am ashamed.
